I like their concept, I think it would be a fun game, they just have to present it differently, without taking assets, art and Ui from ONI, with the same format, and slapping it down. I really do think the games look similar, and as I've said before. Honestly I just feel the Devs behavior is dishonest. My problem is with that you stole ONI's body, and filled it with different stuffing, all the frame is there, in the same presentation, just different coat of paint. I believe that the main game probably does have different gameplay, most of ONI's machines only work because they have an accurate physics system. They also keep insisting the gameplay is different and keep restating those three points. When asked, you can see that all they responded with was to take their word for it and list features that would land into alternate modes and modifiers. It has it's own problems but the Devs are good and their game does draw from ONI in smart ways, but the core of the game has been completely redone, bringing serious design changes. ONI has distinctive gameplay in the Base building genre, gameplay that another game has drawn from. This game has such a similar identity that you can overlay then on top of each other and the structure blends. Then when confronted about it, they make jokes, then shallow announcements with no explanations.Īgain, this isn't the same way that so many other games are similar, like Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld, or Slay the Spire and Monster Train, even COD and Battlefield. This seems to be a game with competent Devs that can actually create a game, but instead of doing that, they're copying so many of ONI's mechanics it feels like a conversion mod. Normally when we see stuff like this it's from some mobile game that has obviously either literally plagiarized the footage, or stolen the characters or elements and recreated them in their art style. So now I'm sitting here with some confusion. Something ONI has in the form of Materials, so not a unique feature. They use 3 of the same overlay screens, they look identical to ONI's.Īnd when challenged about copying ONI, the response you repeatedly give is comparable to:
The same big entrance that spawns characters that work for the player in the same way. The same ladders that are built in the exact same way, that have the wiring and pipes run in the same way. All the wiring shares the exact same distinctive jumbled mess. The core of your game is the same, the same sized blocks, people, machines. unique legends that influence the gameplay

The second I saw the game I Immediately thought it was a mod retexture, as it uses a similar art style, and many assets that look entirely similar to ONI's. So there's this new game with a demo out called Hell Architect.
